Who we are, and what we can handle

Piko Coffee is the coffee business of Critical Elements Corp Limited, Nairobi. The directors bring over fifty years in Kenyan coffee between them, and Piko has been trading under its own AFA Coffee Directorate licence since 2024 — the licence that lets us buy at the Nairobi exchange, add value, and handle export paperwork as one company rather than three. Most Kenyan coffee leaves the country green for someone else to roast. We roast here, which is why our coffee already clears customs in two of the most demanding markets there are.

From the auction floor to your dock

  1. Buying

We bid at the Nairobi exchange under our own AFA buyer’s licence and select lots by grade and cup. Buying at the exchange rather than direct from farms is what the licence permits, and it means every lot has been milled and graded before we see it.
  2. Grading

Lots are screened and separated — AA, AB, PB and C for Arabica, Screen 12, 16 and 18 for Robusta. Grade is set by screen, so a grade means the same thing from one shipment to the next.
  3. Roasting

Roasted to your profile and ground to your brew method, or left whole bean. Roasting at origin is the part most Kenyan coffee skips.
  4. Packing and shipping

Packed to suit the product and the destination, labelled to your spec, with export documentation handled in Nairobi.
